Dr Jim Hagan

Jim Hagan BSc., PhD was appointed CEO for GMEC in June 2009.

Following his degree at University College London and PhD studies, he conducted post-doctoral research at the Rudolf Magnus Institute for Pharmacology in Utrecht, The Netherlands, subsequently taking up MRC and SERC funded positions at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. This was followed by a position at Organon BV in The Netherlands. After returning to the UK to join SmithKline Beecham to work in CNS drug discovery he was appointed VP Biology in the Psychiatry Centre of Excellence in Drug Discovery in GSK. He has contributed to professional and UK Research Council activities, was an invited contributor to the NIMH MATRICS initiative, consults for several companies, has published widely and is a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. Jim is also currently a non-executive Director of Imanova Limited.
