Keith Peters

Sir Keith Peters is a Fellow of the Royal Society and founding Fellow (and from 2002-2006 President) of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

He is Emeritus Professor of Physic at the University of Cambridge, where he was the Head of the School of Clinical Medicine and Honorary Consultant Physician at Addenbrooke’s NHS Trust (1987-2005); from 2006-2008 he served as Interim Director of the MRC’s National Institute for Medical Research at Mill Hill, London, and from 2004-2007 Sir Keith was independent co-chair of the UK Council for Science and Technology. He was Chair of Council of Cardiff University from 2004-2011. Sir Keith has served on various companies Scientific Advisory Boards including GE Healthcare, Merck Research Laboratories, Celltech and Cambridge Antibody Technology. Sir Keith’s research interests centre on the immunology of renal and vascular disease, and in particular on how delineation of immunological mechanisms can lead to new therapies for these disorders. He was knighted in the 1993 New Year’s Honours List. Sir Keith joined GlaxoSmithKline (November 2005) as a Senior Consultant reporting to Dr Moncef Slaoui, Chairman of R&D.
